The Season of Mists and....Colds

This morning I had the pleasure of working with the Musical Theatre students at The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. This is always one of my great joys but over half of them had nasty colds so I thought I'd post my favourite hot toddy recipes just in case you're suffering too. My top tip is to heat the water on the stove and put the lemon juice and husk into the saucepan. This means you'll get the most of the lemon. The first recipe is alcoholic but I've add a non-alcoholic version with spices to sooth the soul (and it is a Wednesday after all!).

Whiskey Toddy

* 50ml whiskey

* 3tbs honey

* 1/2 lemon

* 1/2 cinnamon stick (optional)

* 2 cloves (optional)

Directions

* Put the lemon & juice in a pan with 200ml of cold water and heat slowly. Mush the lemon into the water as it heats.

* Pour the whiskey and the hot lemon into a heat-proof glass

* Add honey to taste and stir

* Add cinnamon and cloves

* Enjoy

Non-Alcohol
